You love your children. Jesus loves all the children of the world.
When your children hurt, your heart hurts too. And all over the world, God’s children are living in danger and poverty, fear and distress - this hurts the heart of God. He calls us to “look after orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27) and tells us that “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).
